In Our New Shop

Have we been busy! Just moved from our 4000 square foot shop @Gaye Chevrolet to Our 7,500 square foot  shop with many new additions and customer conveniences. Was tons of work literally. Hard to imagine what you can accumulate in 19 years. My son got rid of 4600 pounds of metal for us.

I never posted pictures of the 41 Ford finished so here it is, came out super!

We installed an all new booth with heat to get your car a factory paint job. This booth although it was expensive will be well worth it's price tag for our customers and us!

We reorganised everything to make the flow of vehicles go smoother through the shop and this way we can provide faster and better customer repairs. The booth is actually a drive through, so when they are painted they come around to the other side of the shop for re-assembly.

Come see us at our new facility 3 blocks from our old shop. Next to CVS and First Citizens bank. 6711 East Marshville Blvd. Marshville, North Carolina 28103. Phone 704-624-5659

Being The Best Auto Body Shop Has Some Advantages

We have been so busy I haven't had a chance to share anything on this site! We just finished a major hard hit on a 2016 Chevy Silverado lots of Chevy truck bedsides replaced at the shop 5 in two months. A few minor bump ups and a few rust repairs on some nice old vehicles loved by their owners.

A hard hit on the Chevy above. frame repair, bedside, cab corner, rear end housing, axles, wheels. 20K worth of repairs. The insurer wouldn't let it go. It took longer than we expected but she is finally back home, detailed to the hilt and safely parked in the owners driveway.

This old 58 Ford was in bad shape, new floors, new steps, lots of welding on the fenders, doors, cab, hood, just about everywhere! Owner took it home in primer, got it running, got some brakes! After 3 years working on it and 10 years of sitting it rides and drives again! The bed is next and he wants the rear fenders white to match the grille and cowl. Should look unique. Owner says it was that way when he bought it. Glad to be a part of fulfilling his dream.

I think the thing that amazes me most is some of the horrible repairs we have witnessed on cars coming through the shop. I don't know why some shops or people do the things they do. Screws holding parts together, terrible paint work and the list could go on and on! If you can't do it right, why do it?

#AllPrecisonCollisionRepair will always look out for our customers. If it shouldn't be fixed and needs a replacement part we make sure our customers are aware and so is the party paying for the claim!

#CollisionRepair is what we shine at!

Trump Threatens to Tax European Auto Imports

By David Shepardson and Mike Stone WASHINGTON, March 3 (Reuters) – U.S. President Donald Trump kept up pressure on trading partners on Saturday, threatening European automakers with a tax on imports if the European Union retaliates against his plan to slap tariffs on aluminum and steel.

Trump’s tweet suggested he is refusing to yield to U.S. business interests and foreign trading partners alarmed at the prospect of a trade war that rattled financial markets this week.

“If the E.U. wants to further increase their already massive tariffs and barriers on U.S. companies doing business there, we will simply apply a Tax on their Cars which freely pour into the U.S.,” Trump wrote on Twitter. “They make it impossible for our cars (and more) to sell there. Big trade imbalance!”

The United States imposes a 2.5-percent tariff on cars assembled in Europe and a 25-percent tariff on European-built vans and pickup trucks. Europe imposes a 10-percent tariff on U.S.-built cars.

Trump criticized Europe in remarks at a fundraiser, according to video posted online Saturday, and suggested they would not increase tariffs.

“The European Union: brutal. They’ve been brutal to us,” Trump said at a Florida fundraiser. “They’ve banded together in order to beat the United States in trade.”

Trump did not respond to questions about tariffs or other topics upon returning to the White House Saturday.

In a speech Friday night at Harvard University, European Commissioner for Competition Margrethe Vestager said the EU will respond to the tariffs “to defend European industry, and the world trading system,” according to a copy of her remarks. She called the Trump action “one-sided protectionist measures, which hurt, not just jobs, but the whole system of rules that makes our global economy work.”

German automakers Volkswagen AG, Daimler AG and BMW AG build vehicles at plants in the United States. BMW employs more than 9,000 workers in South Carolina and is one of the state’s largest employers.

The United States accounts for about 15 percent of worldwide Mercedes-Benz and BMW brand sales, while it accounts for 5 percent of VW brand sales and 12 percent of Audi sales.

The United States had a $22.3 billion automotive vehicle and parts trade deficit with Germany in 2017 and a $7 billion deficit with the United Kingdom, according to U.S. government data.

Last year, Germany’s automotive trade association said “the United States would be shooting itself in the foot by imposing tariffs or other trade barriers.”

Trump’s threat comes amid mounting transatlantic tension on trade.

On Thursday, Trump said the United States would apply duties of 25 percent on imported steel and 10 percent on aluminum to protect domestic producers.

Major automakers say the move will hike the cost of cars and trucks.

The next day, European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker told German television that “We will put tariffs on Harley-Davidson (motorcycles), on bourbon and on blue jeans – Levis.”

Canada also has said it will retaliate for any tariffs on steel and aluminum.

Trump had tweeted on Friday that trade wars are good and “easy to win,” roiling U.S. financial markets.

In January 2017, Trump warned German car companies he would impose a border tax of 35 percent on vehicles imported to the U.S. market.

2015 Chevrolet 1500 Z71 Blacked Out Trim

Last week we took a brand new 2015 Chevy 1500 Z-71 and took the front and back of the truck and changed out the Chrome bumpers with painted bumpers. The parts all came from General Motors and the bumpers had to be painted, a front valence had to be painted and we took the headlights apart and removed the chrome trim and painted those also.

It took a full day to take it apart, a day of painting and then another day to re assemble with all the replacement parts. The customer was a little fussy but in the end loved the look. We did a super high quality job on the truck and the parts and they should get a lifetime of enjoyment.

Take a look at the pictures and please comment below!

Adds a real cool look with the wheels on the truck. I have to admit I am a tinge jealous!

Auto Body Repair Charlotte Pro Consumer Collision Repair

I founded our shop All Precision Collision Repair to give consumers a choice in how their cars are fixed and provide a better customer experience. There are allot of things we do differently than the big chain shops in our area. We treat every vehicle we work on like it was our own. The larger chain shops have so much pressure from Insurance companies to get cars in and out they lose sight of who their customer really is. This causes shops and employees to cut corners on the cars repairs and short change the customer in the end.

As a former body technician myself I know how easy it can be to overlook important details when repairing complicated vehicles and the electronics and safety systems on these vehicles. Vehicles are allot different now than they were ten years ago. The use of exotic materials magnesium, carbon fiber, aluminum and plastics are spread through the whole vehicle. Electronics control everything from airbags to your radio and all systems in between. We stay current on all training necessary to safely perform repairs on today's modern vehicles. We make sure we use tried and proven materials and equipment on our repairs, not the cheapest but the best.

No-one can understand the pressure to perform quick and cheap auto body repairs more than I can. 25 years of working for Insurance recommended repair shops taught me well of what insurers expect for referring work to these shops. I have heard insurance personnel tell customers some very strong lies to steer customers away from using independent auto body shops. The reason being they want complete control of the parts used, rentals and labor. Because of this conundrum shops are forced to hire technicians that go along with this repair mentality. They do not want high quality repairs they want cheap repairs period. As with any business there are some employees that are just flat greedy! Money over quality. Over the years I have worked with allot of technicians with this mentality. Lets just say an abundance of shortcuts were taken. All at the unsuspecting customers expense. Not only is this system unscrupulous but it breeds fraud. I inspect cars for customers that notice things wrong with their repairs, some of the things I have uncovered in this process has caused me allot of concern. Most of the issues were covered up by shiny paint and unseen by the untrained eye.

When I say that our shop is Pro Consumer it means we work for our customer and not directly for the insurer involved in the claim. The insurers are only supposed to pay for the claim not dictate how the vehicle is repaired. It is this co mingling of options that causes most of the problems I see in my post repair inspections. Insurers love anything that will save them money on the pay out of the claim. Non Factory parts, Junkyard parts and discount labor. I have had to explain the repair process's necessary to fix a vehicle many times to insurance personnel that really should know the proper procedures. I sometimes wonder if they are incompetent or just plain dumb.

If you need assistance with your claim or want the finest collision repairs, we can easily be reached by phone 704-624-5659 or click here All Precision Collision Repair . Our shop is family owned and operated and has been in the same location for 15 years. We are East of Charlotte on Hwy 74 in Marshville, North Carolina.

Another Excellent Repair Leaves The Shop

We just recently painted a complete exterior refinish on a 1995 Chevy Full sized truck. Some of the clear coat was breaking down, had about 25 dings and dents on the body. There was also some old body work that was peeling and rusting under the trim. I have to admit that it turned out to be a really big project. We spent about two weeks working on the body work and stripping the clear coat.

Tailgate body repair

Hood body repair and strip clear coat

Old damage and dents drivers side

Now after all the hard work our customer was extremely satisfied with the paint and body work we performed on his 1995 Chevy 1500

As you can tell it looks like new again and probably much slicker than the factory orange peel!

Come see us for your paint work and get all your estimates in writing before you stop by.

Deny, Delay Defend You Are Not In Good Hands!

Today’s guest blog is from Professor Jay Feinman from Rutgers University Law School. Feinman is author of Delay, Deny, Defend: Why Insurance Companies Don’t Pay Claims and What You Can Do About It.
As a no-fault insurance lawyer in Michigan, I write frequently about the issues and challenges that my own clients face when they’re injured in auto accidents and claims are regularly denied or ignored by insurance companies.
One interesting thing about Professor Feinman’s excellent book is that as bad as things are, they are likely far worse for auto accident victims in Michigan. Michigan is one of only a few states without bad faith laws, punitive damages, or a state consumer protection act that insurance lawyers can use against insurance companies when they wrongfully deny claims. That effectively takes away any “big stick” that Michigan insurance lawyers can use to deter bad behavior by insurance companies, making it a game where insurance companies and claims adjusters will deny hundreds of legitimate auto accident claims and save millions of dollars. The public policy for protecting Michigan citizens against insurance company abuse could not be worse.
Here is Professor Feinman on the reality behind the claims handling process in America today:
Insurance companies sell security. You’re in good hands with Allstate. Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there. Nationwide is on your side.
But insurance companies increasingly fail to honor their promise of security. To improve their profits, companies delay payment of claims, deny payment of valid claims, and defend their actions by forcing claimants to sue to get what they are entitled to.
This strategy is known as “delay, deny, defend,” and it perverts the insurance industry’s promise of security. Within the vast bureaucracy of insurance companies, actuaries assess risks, underwriters price policies and evaluate prospective policyholders, the marketing department sells policies, and management supervises the whole process. The claims department’s only job should be to pay what is owed, no more but no less. Delay, deny, defend turns the claims department into just another profit center.
Three things happened from the early 1990s onward to cause this shift.
First, there were a series of external shocks that put insurance companies under financial pressure. Financial conditions pressed companies to continually cut premiums to attract customers. Medical costs, a principal part of the payouts of auto insurance companies, rose dramatically. Mother Nature made things worse as hurricanes, earthquakes, and wildfires imposed losses for which companies had inadequately reserved.
Second, attitudes changed. As elsewhere in American finance, a mania for growth and profits took hold. Many companies shifted from mutual to stock ownership to tap the capital markets as a source of growth. Allstate embarked on an extreme strategy of reducing underwriting standards and expanding its base of agents to increase its market share, and as it spun off from its lifelong association with Sears, shareholder value became primary. GEICO began spending half a billion dollars annually on advertising to attract customers, triggering a price war fought with premium cuts and advertising dollars.
Third, a change agent entered the picture. Allstate and other companies hired the mega-consulting firm McKinsey & Company to develop new claim strategies. At Allstate, McKinsey defined claims as a “zero-sum game,” with the policyholder and the company competing for the same dollars. Its goal was “to redefine the game . . . to . . . radically alter our whole approach to the business of claims.” Computer systems would be put in place to set the amounts policyholders would be offered, claimants would be deterred from hiring lawyers, adjusters would be rewarded for underpaying claims, and settlements would be offered on a take-it-or-litigate basis.
The results have been dramatic. For the property/casualty industry as a whole, for every dollar that a consumer pays in premiums, the companies pay out a nickel less in claims compared to 10 years ago and a dime less compared to 20 years ago.
Treating claims as a profit center undermines the trust created by insurance companies’ advertising. The companies need to honor their promise of security through prompt and fair claim handling, not delay, deny, defend.
– Jay M. Feinman is Distinguished Professor of Law at Rutgers University School of Law, Camden, and the author of Delay, Deny, Defend: Why Insurance Companies Don’t Pay Claims and What You Can Do About It.

Complete Paint Jobs Are Our Specialty

We recently completed a Complete Paint job on a 1997 Chevy 1500 Pick up truck. I wanted to share what the owner had to say about the completed project!

ü ★★★★★ I'm very pleased with All Precision Collision Repair. The whole team delivered the integrity and excellent workmanship that exceeded my expectations. The prices are great and they do an awesome job. They finished the job in a timely manner. I'd highly recommend them to anyone. What sets this body shop apart from the others is the quality of work they perform. Most shops mainly charge you for labor & get cheap materials, not this shop they are very reasonable on labor and buy the best materials.
The truck they worked on or should I say restored, was the white 97' chevy. I plan on taking them all my business in the future. They turned my lemon of a truck into lemonade. It's amazing the work they put into that thing. Didn't even recognize it when I drove up.
They will tell you like it is, which is a good thing. Trust me you need to listen because they know what they're talking about. Example, aftermarket parts is a huge NO. I tried to cut corners & buy cheap parts for them to use. Wish I had never done that. Next time I'll learn from my mistakes and buy factory. What will cost you half at the beginning will end up costing you twice down the road. To conclude, I'd like to say thank you to the All Precision Collision Repair team. I couldn't be any happier with the work y'all did. 5 stars & then some! -Josh Edwards

Aftermarket Parts a Short Video

Another pro-consumer shop in North Carolina is asking for the public's help in changing some Insurers tactics of recommending low quality shops and low quality parts. Some of us shop owners will not risk our customers lives or lower the value of their vehicles by using imitation non tested parts on their vehicles.

Because we don't play the insurers games we are often referred to as not being on their list or sometimes they even say they have never heard of us. We have been in the same location for nearly 15 years. Located at Gaye Chevrolet in Marshville, NC. All Precision Collision Repair  is one of the few shops in NC that will inspect other shops repair's and fix a customers car the way they want the car fixed not the insurance company. We work with all Insurers however after 35 years in collision repair I consider our shop to be the experts.

It really is amazing some of the dumb things Insurers say to my technicians. "You sure that Aftermarket Imitation fender does not fit?" Come on really? If we put it on and it does not fit my customers would flip out. Gaps you could loose a pencil in? That won't fly with our shop.

I really don't want to charge anymore than necessary to fix the car right the first time. I pay Insurance premiums just like everyone else and I understand controlling costs to keep premiums down. However some things that they refuse to pay for are amazing. Washing a car is one of them. When your car is repaired it is impossible to keep it dust free. We cover the car but all bodywork materials create dust. I put a $20.00 charge on the estimate and they won't pay for it. I have a guy spend 1 1/2 hours vacuuming, cleaning windows inside and out, dressing the interior trim, wash the outside, clean and shine the tires and dry the car off. Soap, tire shine, cleaners, paper towels, wax and water are not free. We wash 200 cars a year for free! Too funny if you ask me.

Please watch the video it is very short but hits home with a message that is important to all car owners. You never seem to find out how bad your insurance company is till you file a claim. By then you have usually paid years in premiums. I find it amazing that they treat customers the way they do.

Wonder How The Lizard Keeps Customers

We had a customer come through with a claim on her nearly new Chevy Spark. The accident was not her fault and she was stopped and hit by another vehicle. While the officer was writing up the accident report another car came through and side swiped her car. Her Insurer made her drive an unsafe car to a body shop that was part of their "network" and she came back to us with a deficient estimate. Their estimate included a used door and an after crap rear bumper cover. Her car only had 23,000 miles on it and it was a 2013 model year.

We disassembled the car put it on our bench and used up his 3 hour pull time and discovered a damaged rear body panel. and some other issues not on his estimate. We waited 3 days for a re inspection and he could not make a decision as to the short items. He finally contacted us 4 days later and decided to total loss the vehicle.

To make a long story short, they were charging the customer 2 deductibles and they short payed her $500.00 on the bill for the total loss. The customer already has an attorney so I am sure they will have to do the right thing in the end.

It just amazes me that Insurers try the tactics they do to not pay a legitimate claim. If you are insured with the Lizard you may want to consider how they handle their claims when it comes to renewal time. I have to admit they have great commercials but they never really say how they handle their claims in the commercials :).

Another Shoddy Repair From a Local Chain Shop

I really hate to preach about being careful who you choose to do your repairs but I just inspected two vehicles and both were short changed on their repairs. The first vehicle was a 2013 Nissan Pathfinder. The gaps around some of the panels were poor, the trim inside the hatch was loose, there were clips broken and missing and the worst part of all was the shop charged the customer $450.00 for a trailer hitch and never replaced it! This is fraud perpetrated on the Insurance company and the customer! The work was done at a large Ford Dealer that recently had been sued by another consumer for the same type of things. The suit resulted in a 6 digit pay out by the shop for fraud! This shop charged for things they did not do! This is criminal, immoral and down right illegal!

Our Body shop never ever charges for something we do not do. I have a lot of battles with Insurance companies over there use of substandard parts and shortchanging my customers but I have never resorted to theft to make up for a short payment. I have done auto body repair for 35 years and I have seen a lot of bad body repair men and a few crooked shops. I never stayed at a bad shop for very long! My past experience is what persuaded me to open my open shop. 15 years after opening people know who they can come to and trust us with their vehicles for collision repairs. Take a look on our web site All Precision Collision Repair we have done thousands of correct and safe repairs. I will even inspect other shops repairs to make sure they did what they charged for in a workmanship like manor. Most paperwork you get from the shop is so confusing an average person can not understand the estimate or the final bill. That is what we are here for!

We have assisted customers in either getting the repairs done right or getting unsafe vehicles taken off of the road! I hate to say how many but I will say that 99% of the cars we inspect have had defects or other problems with repairs that know one else would be able to find. We call it a post repair inspection. If you have had problems with your car after repairs, it doesn't drive correct or look right or you just want peace of mind that it is safe to drive. Go to my DV website Collision Repair Help have a look around and contact us, even if you are not in North Carolina I am affiliated with enough good shops I can find someone to help you!

My last inspection involved a 2011 Kia Soul. I found unrepaired damage, bad gaps and a list of aftermarket parts that the customer was unaware of. The shop that took in his vehicle is a chain shop in the Charlotte area of North Carolina. They worked on the Kia 3 different times and still left $800.00 worth of unrepaired damage. The answer was a spray can of cheap undercoat that still was wet 3 weeks after they sprayed it on  It was like putting a thick coat of Roofing tar over the bad places to hide them! I am assisting this customer get his vehicle repaired properly and recovering his loss in value. This accident was not his fault so in North Carolina he can collect for the other loss in value which is called inherent diminished value. I will be writing a story about the two types of diminished value as soon as I can.

Please come by and check out this blog or subscribe to my feed and I will keep you updated as to how these two claims progress.

New Crash Test Yields Unusual Results from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety

The results are in and now we can study the results for a new frontal crash test that focuses more on real world accidents. It is statistically proven that most head on front end crashes are not straight on. Tests have been made with offsets of 40% and most car makers have gotten a lot better at them. New stats show that our natural instinct is to try to avoid the head on crash and turn the wheel away from the vehicle that is headed towards you. Thus we now have a new standard at a 20% frontal impact. This more closely matches what happens when we react to a crash.

Unfortunately this has caught some manufacturers by surprise. It seems that the 20% overlap aligns cars were the bumpers are almost ineffective. The headlight to headlight impact relies heavily on the fender and front wheel to slow down the impact.

Watch the video on you tube and there are plenty of others on the sidebar to show you the results.
You tube IIHS crash tests. I was surprised who did the best but lets see how well your favorite brand does.
