Since the move to the new location we have been getting busier and busier which is a good problem to have. Dee Dee, my wife has been helping customers better understand the Insurance maze. It does seem confusing at times and with all Insurance carriers the claims process runs slightly different. In Our New Shop

Have we been busy! Just moved from our 4000 square foot shop @Gaye Chevrolet to Our 7,500 square foot  shop with many new additions and customer conveniences. Was tons of work literally. Hard to imagine what you can accumulate in 19 years. My son got rid of 4600 pounds of metal for us.

I never posted pictures of the 41 Ford finished so here it is, came out super!

We installed an all new booth with heat to get your car a factory paint job. This booth although it was expensive will be well worth it's price tag for our customers and us!

We reorganised everything to make the flow of vehicles go smoother through the shop and this way we can provide faster and better customer repairs. The booth is actually a drive through, so when they are painted they come around to the other side of the shop for re-assembly.

Big Move In The Near Future

After 18 years in the same location behind Gaye Chevrolet we are moving a few blocks away to a larger facility to better serve our customers.

After all this time we have out grown the 3500 square foot shop. The New facility is 7500 square feet and we will have many new amenities. I will finally have my own office! We added a state of the art Paint booth with a new mixing room and updated mixing color station with all new Axalta color. We are all exited and this should help us keep up better with demand. The new Paint booth has a 993,000 BTU Propane Heater to bake the vehicles finishes as the factory does.

2015 Chevrolet 1500 Z71 Blacked Out Trim

Last week we took a brand new 2015 Chevy 1500 Z-71 and took the front and back of the truck and changed out the Chrome bumpers with painted bumpers. The parts all came from General Motors and the bumpers had to be painted, a front valence had to be painted and we took the headlights apart and removed the chrome trim and painted those also.

It took a full day to take it apart, a day of painting and then another day to re assemble with all the replacement parts. The customer was a little fussy but in the end loved the look. We did a super high quality job on the truck and the parts and they should get a lifetime of enjoyment.

Another Excellent Repair Leaves The Shop

We just recently painted a complete exterior refinish on a 1995 Chevy Full sized truck. Some of the clear coat was breaking down, had about 25 dings and dents on the body. There was also some old body work that was peeling and rusting under the trim. I have to admit that it turned out to be a really big project. We spent about two weeks working on the body work and stripping the clear coat.

Now after all the hard work our customer was extremely satisfied with the paint and body work we performed on his 1995 Chevy 1500 

As you can tell it looks like new again and probably much slicker than the factory orange peel!

Aftermarket Parts a Short Video

Another pro-consumer shop in North Carolina is asking for the public's help in changing some Insurers tactics of recommending low quality shops and low quality parts. Some of us shop owners will not risk our customers lives or lower the value of their vehicles by using imitation non tested parts on their vehicles.

Because we don't play the insurers games we are often referred to as not being on their list or sometimes they even say they have never heard of us. We have been in the same location for nearly 15 years. Located at Gaye Chevrolet in Marshville, NC. All Precision Collision Repair  is one of the few shops in NC that will inspect other shops repair's and fix a customers car the way they want the car fixed not the insurance company. We work with all Insurers however after 35 years in collision repair I consider our shop to be the experts.

It really is amazing some of the dumb things Insurers say to my technicians. "You sure that Aftermarket Imitation fender does not fit?" Come on really? If we put it on and it does not fit my customers would flip out. Gaps you could loose a pencil in? That won't fly with our shop.

I really don't want to charge anymore than necessary to fix the car right the first time. I pay Insurance premiums just like everyone else and I understand controlling costs to keep premiums down. However some things that they refuse to pay for are amazing. Washing a car is one of them. When your car is repaired it is impossible to keep it dust free. We cover the car but all bodywork materials create dust. I put a $20.00 charge on the estimate and they won't pay for it. I have a guy spend 1 1/2 hours vacuuming, cleaning windows inside and out, dressing the interior trim, wash the outside, clean and shine the tires and dry the car off. Soap, tire shine, cleaners, paper towels, wax and water are not free. We wash 200 cars a year for free! Too funny if you ask me.

Please watch the video it is very short but hits home with a message that is important to all car owners. You never seem to find out how bad your insurance company is till you file a claim. By then you have usually paid years in premiums. I find it amazing that they treat customers the way they do.

New Crash Test Yields Unusual Results from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety

The results are in and now we can study the results for a new frontal crash test that focuses more on real world accidents. It is statistically proven that most head on front end crashes are not straight on. Tests have been made with offsets of 40% and most car makers have gotten a lot better at them. New stats show that our natural instinct is to try to avoid the head on crash and turn the wheel away from the vehicle that is headed towards you. Thus we now have a new standard at a 20% frontal impact. This more closely matches what happens when we react to a crash.

Unfortunately this has caught some manufacturers by surprise. It seems that the 20% overlap aligns cars were the bumpers are almost ineffective. The headlight to headlight impact relies heavily on the fender and front wheel to slow down the impact.
